Prof. Dr. Imaan Benmerzouga

Dr. Imaan Benmerzouga is currently an Assistant Professor of Foundational Sciences at Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine, Nova Southeastern University in Florida, USA.  She is currently a course director and teaching faculty member of medical physiology in the osteopathic medicine program at Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine. She earned her Ph.D. in Regulatory Biology with cellular and molecular medicine specialization from Cleveland State University, Cleveland, Ohio, USA, in 2013. She completed her postdoctoral work at Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, with an NIH-funded (T32) postdoctoral fellowship. She has been teaching physiology and other basic sciences topics since 2015.  Her educational research focuses on finding the most effective educational tools and teaching modalities that will enhance student learning of the basic sciences. Notable teaching awards include the 2024 Golden Apple Award for excellence in teaching and the Society of Osteopathic Medical Educators (SOME) Innovation Award in Basic Science Medical Education.
